What Are 5 Of The Best Summer Accessories For Your Chevrolet?

With summer coming, more people in Toronto are going to be spending a lot of time on the road. Whether that’s just driving around Toronto or going beyond the GTA to spend some quality time in cottage country, you’ll need your car to get there.

That’s why City Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GM has come up with a list of car accessories that you should consider adding to your vehicle this summer. There’s plenty to plan when the weather heats up, and outfitting your car with the best items for your lifestyle is one significant part. Here are a few accessories that can make a big difference in your driving experience.

1. Dashboard Cameras

A dashboard camera can be invaluable for you. Dashboard cams are high-quality digital cameras positioned to get an expansive view of what you see as you drive. Because they are digital, they are constantly recording as you drive. Dashboard cams become important when an incident occurs on the road. Maybe you and your camera witness an accident. Alternatively, maybe you’re involved in one, and the other driver claims you’re at fault, but you know you’re not. With a dashboard cam recording the whole incident, you can quickly determine what happened, and it’s admissible both for insurance and court purposes if required.

2. In-Car Fridge

An in-car fridge is a perfect way to keep chilled drinks on hand. Some portable refrigerator models are designed to be easily carried anywhere, including shoulder straps so you can bring them along on outings once you leave the car. Depending on the type of fridge you buy, some can be plugged into the cigarette lighter in a vehicle to provide refrigeration to keep your preferred drink or snacks chilled and ready to go. This fridge is an upgrade from many other portable options that are filled with ice and start to defrost and melt once in the heat of a vehicle on a hot summer’s day.

3. Augmented Driving Navigator

If you like using a GPS navigation system, but don’t like taking your eyes off the road to consult what the GPS display is showing you, then consider “augmented reality.” Augmented reality is a technology that puts transparent screens in front of you, then projects images on top of those screens that “sit” on top of what you’re looking at.

New augmented GPS systems have small, transparent screens that sit on your dashboard, just above your steering wheel. This means that when you look at these screens, you’re no longer taking your eyes completely off the road, but only scanning down to the lower half. It’s a much safer way to keep track of your driving and make your next move to keep en route.

4. Sun Shades

This can be important for keeping your car cool, or if you have children or pets and want to keep these other members of your family protected during the sunny days. Too much exposure to ultraviolet radiation can be harmful to anyone, but when this is combined with the potential heat inside a car, it can increase the health risk.

Sun shades, especially if they are applied to the rear window, can be a great way to protect children and pets in the car from harmful rays and uncomfortable glare. In situations where you need to park your car and have a child or animal in the back seat for a period of the time, you’ll be glad you invested in this type of protection.

5. Bluetooth Accessories

Distracted driving is against the law in Ontario; however, using a hands-free device, such as a Bluetooth accessory for your phone or a phone mounted on a stable holder, is within the bounds of the law. Bluetooth is the better way to go since it allows drivers to keep both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. If you often find you need to take calls while on the go, then a Bluetooth accessory for your car is a necessity.

Many of these car accessories are a great investment, regardless of the time of year. Some will make all the difference, especially this summer. Summer on the road can mean a lot of good times and good memories. With the right car summer accessories, you can make those experiences better, more convenient, and even safer.
